Today is the day!!!

Today is...or wait was it yesterday??   First off, Happy Birthdays to Abby on departure day( I did my best to embarrass her) and today to Logan who had a birthday song at supper this evening.       To be honest it is approaching midnight and I am not even sure what day it is, which brings back fond memories of years past when the days would completely run together at the beginning of the tour.  All in all we had a great couple of flights and a great start to our tour!  Picture it...Paris in the spring time - 24C and we are wandering around one of the most famous and fabulous cities in the world.       There were times during Covid when I wondered whether or not we’d ever get to do this again.  I must say the Olympic cleanup is still in effect, as the city is immaculate just as I heard it was pre-Olympics.  The kids have not yet sent many pictures to me, although we walked at a snail's pace at times as Snap and ...

The Final Countdown .....      T Minus 3 days 6 hours 47 minutes...oops 46 minutes 39 seconds...38...37...36...you get the point!!!!  We are drawing nearer and nearer to departure and things are starting to settle in.  My family seems overly excited for me to leave, I wonder what is up??? Maybe the constant motion and chaos will create a break for them...lol.           As I walk through the hallways I am seeing some pretty excited looking faces on our travelers and I am getting excited for them and as well personally.  It is going to be a journey of a lifetime and I cannot wait to share it with them!  My first post of this most recent blog was published yesterday but I will send out the link this weekend once I tighten things up.        P rior to departing on each subsequent tour I usually post a couple of things about my personal experiences before any of these student tours began.  There is never...

Image
Oh What a night!!! It has been 8 long years since the last official "Salute to Veterans" at TOSH and I must say the kids did a wonderful job representing their chosen veterans, their families, their school and their community. This is the essence of what we are trying to do here at TOSH, a lasting legacy of remembrance of members of the community who sacrificed days, weeks, years and lives so that we could live freely as we do today. I was beyond proud of the students and their own pride in their accomplishments of telling the stories was on full display in our learning center.       I often wondered whether or not we would be travelling to Europe again, post-Covid, but less than a week away from departure I can fully see the value of the planning, research and fundraising that goes into this “trip,” unlike any other here at TOSH. Congrats once again, you showed up and showed out and the veterans were beaming with pride as well, as they sho...
